![]() Screensets are project-based so you need to save them in your templates. With the Fade Out option changed to Slow Down, the ‘power failure’ effect using the fade tool is a snap. If you like to customise your Key Commands, use a complex command to set the zoom, and a simple one to recall it. Open the Key Commands dialogue to see what the key combination is for ‘Recall Zoom 1’. Now you can recall each one with a click combination. You can do this for up to three zoom levels. Save the zoom setting with the Key Command ‘Save as Zoom 1’. Choose a zoom setting that you find yourself coming back to again and again. I recently incorporated saving/recalling zoom settings into my workflow. Conveniently, by holding down the key combination you continue zooming in the selected direction with increasing speed. I use the Command key and the four-way arrow buttons for my zooming needs. Screensets cover a macro overview method of navigating Logic, but zooming in/out on individual windows is a different story. Whether you are working on a small laptop screen or spread out over several monitors, this feature is invaluable. ![]() Using Key Commands, the user can arrange any combination of various windows and recall them instantly. Early in its development, Logic employed a feature that continues to be part of its workflow: Screensets. Close-upĪn area where Logic shines is in its ability to keep relevant, contextual information front and centre, at any given moment. ![]() ‘Go To Marker’ will work in this case and even slide the locators to the marker (which may not be a good thing in some cases), but ‘Play From Previous Bar’ ignores the locator/cycle entirely. Normally, if your locators are set to cycle, hitting the spacebar brings you to the beginning of the loop. One benefit of these commands is that they operate independently of the locators. It will also go back a full measure even if the playhead is at the end of the bar you’re in. This function is useful because it provides a moment before the section is played back to give you a little context. I have it set up to be engaged with Command+Space. I place the marker a beat ahead of bar 1 to give the graphics a moment to get in place and to allow for any buffering that’s needed.Īnother similar playback-related Key Command I use is ‘Play From Previous Bar’. This command is normally followed by hitting the spacebar to begin playback. Using the Key Command ‘Go To Marker 1’, I can jump to the beginning of my track easily. Regardless of locator positions, a well-placed marker ensures playback from the beginning of your track.Markers are one way, but I never found a way to incorporate them into my workflow - with one exception: in all my templates, I have one marker set at one beat before bar 1. Two easy methods that I use can speed up your sessions. These are great moments to search the Key Command list for new ways to accomplish navigating the program.Įven simple tasks like placing the playback head in the right spot can cost you time over the course of a project. The more you work in Logic (or any DAW), the more you’ll find yourself repeating the same physical sequences over and over. To remind you, instead of going in-depth on techniques related to a specific theme, I’m going to present a selection of some of my favourite tips covering a range of topics. Let’s pick up where we left off last month. By the way, I tried panning the samples in Battery 4 left or right to put them on one channel but the volume drop sucks, plus it's counterintuitive.Flex your Logic Pro X muscles with half a dozen more tips and tricks. In Batter 3 I could get away with 1 stereo out and the rest mono. So I'm stuck with that or using 16 stereo channels, which are available if I set it up 16 stereo outputs in the prefs. to mono but it seems like it forces me to use at least 4 stereo channels. I tried to go to Battery 4 in the preference section and change the stereo ch. The problem is Logic, using the little + sign in the mixer, will only make 15 AUX (pic below) channels leaving me with 7 channels to work with in mono, (9-15) not enough for what I want to set up. When I load Battery 4 in 16 mono I get 4 Stereo and 24 mono (9-32) to choose from as my outputs for each cell.

Sheet/elastomeric liquid-applied types may be considered the safer option with ICF units, but it is important to determine that any type used is compatible with the ICF structure. The membranes can be either of the flexible sheet variety, fully bonded adhesive types or liquid applied. On particularly high-risk strata such as clay or areas of temporary perched water tables, risk of water ingress can be further reduced by the installation of an external land drain, properly located, maintainable and discharging to a reliable outlet or sump and pump arrangement.Īdditional measures that can be taken include a sheet liquid membranes applied over the concrete blinding and beneath the slab, and subsequently continued up and around a dual-applied external waterproofing system (see image left). A simple and effective way of overcoming this potentially tricky jointing detail can be the application of a cement-based crystalline waterproofing treatment, either by dry sprinkle or slurry coating the exposed face of each lift. Consideration must also be given to the potential construction or pour joints between each concrete wall lift. In this regard hydrophilic waterbars can be installed at wall–floor junctions and around penetrations, and neoprene rubber strips can be used at expansion joints. Either way, it is advised that guidance should be sought from the manufacturer of the ICF units.Īs with any structure below ground level, irrespective of the required grades of watertightness (Grades 1, 2 or 3 as defined in BS 8102:2009(1)) and the structure’s intended use, it is critical to ensure that all types of construction and joints are well protected against the ingress of groundwater. Furthermore, in terms of consistence, generally slump class S3 is specified for ICF concstruction, but S4 would offer greater fluidity of the poured/ pumped concrete within the ICF unit. It is advisable to discuss this with the ICF manufacturer and concrete supplier, to ensure an appropriate mix for the structural requirements, waterproofing, and the void spacing within the ICF. One way of addressing this problem would be to use selfcompacting concrete – although there would be cost implications.Ĭonsideration should also be made with regard to the size of aggregate. It is sometimes difficult to determine if this has been done well enough to release all the trapped air from the mix and to avoid honeycombing within the concrete due to poor compaction/vibration. Careful placing and compaction of the concrete is required to minimise damage, along with adequate propping of the ICF structure prior to pouring the concrete. When placing concrete within the ICF units, there is a potential for damage to occur, both from pouring heavy, viscous concrete into a relatively fragile structure and when vibrating and compacting the concrete sufficiently. ICF forms have to be filled in a more controlled manner, to aid in managing the weight and pressure brought to bear on the polystyrene blocks. ICF provides a cost-effective and simple solution for placing cast in situ walls most appropriate for new build, rather than retrofit, basements. Care should be taken to ensure that the specification of the waterproofing membrane and its fixing methods are appropriate for application to polystyrene. For basement construction, polystyrene provides good background for waterproofing barriers. ![]() Unlike conventional formwork, ICF is left in place to act as insulation. As with in-situ formed concrete walls and floors, reinforcing steel bars are usually placed inside the forms before concrete is poured to give the predominantly concrete structure flexural strength and to reduce cracking. The Insulating Concrete Framework (ICF) systems use either lightweight twin-walled expanded polystyrene (EPS) or extruded polystyrene (XPS) and usually simply lock together (in a similar way to a child’s Lego bricks), to create a suitable form for the structural walls of a building. ![]() ![]() Select your vehicle Gas Tank Sending Unit Gasket - 1980-85 Ford Truck, 1966.
